MDS wins 2 aia archi awards!
MDS Architecture Honored with Two Archi Awards
MDS Architecture is thrilled to share that the firm has received two Archi Awards from the American Institute of Architects Long Island Chapter, one of the industry’s most distinguished honors celebrating excellence in architectural design and impact on the community.
The Susan E. Wiley Library was awarded Best Use of Color, recognizing MDS Architecture’s evidence-based approach to creating environments that inspire learning. Studies show that color can shape mood, focus, and memory- critical elements in early education. Led by Irene Yim, the design team developed a palette that balances energy and calm, transforming the library into a welcoming, engaging space where students feel encouraged to explore and discover.
The Archi Commendation Award for Nino’s Beach Restaurant celebrates design excellence that strengthens the dining experience and connection to the waterfront. Under the direction of Sr. Project Architect Joy Liaw, the project embraces its coastal setting through materials and forms that highlight natural beauty, community, and a strong sense of place.
These recognitions reflect MDS’ commitment to creating thoughtful, human-centered spaces that enrich everyday experiences. The firm also extends its appreciation to Principal Michael Mark for his leadership and vision in guiding the team’s ongoing pursuit of design excellence.
The Archi Awards, presented annually by the AIA, honor outstanding architectural achievements that advance design quality and community impact across Long Island and beyond.
